I have a 20 tooth as well, and it's a breeze to pull out of leather, to contrast your 6 tooth issue.They make a large hole which is easy to get your needles through but if your goal is fine leatherwork you will probably move on to pricking iron or stitching irons. I personally use Blanchard irons but I don't think they are any better than some random $15 chinese pricking iron from ebay. There just weren't many other options when I started.
